A young prince, Aucassin, is in love with a young slave girl, Nicolette, in the most intense (and dramatic) way. He refuses to devote himself to the affairs of the castle unless his father, the Compte de Beaucaire, gives him Nicolette, "his sweet friend whom he loves so much". The young slave, also madly in love with the young prince, must therefore flee the country to avoid being burned alive in the public square. Don't think that she can count on the bravery and courage of Aucassin, who is more likely to burst into tears when faced with problems. In this 13th century reinterpreted song-fairytale, Miss Mosa and Sir Isier use their full range of narrative means to achieve their goal, for they are not the best storytellers either.
